The area called Regional Ontario runs from the Manitoba border to around Kingston - north to Thunder Bay and south to Niagara Falls and Windsor. The entire region has a Jewish population between 12,000 and 14,000. The Jewish National Fund is committed to providing all of Ontario's smaller Jewish communities a link to Eretz Y'Israel ... the LAND of Israel through programming, education and fund-raising activities.
Atlantic pistacias are impressive trees – their great size, wide trunks and gnarled branches make them easy to identify from the eastern Galilee and down to the Negev Highlands where they grow. Their massive trunks are sometimes attacked by beetle larvae that consume the tree from inside leaving only the large, hollow trunk.
